Scottish/Canadian Thanksgiving

My medals. Im so proud of medals. I ran two 10ks in September in case i haven't mentioned it enough haha
Last weekend was thanksgiving in Canada and to make DH feel part of life back home, we had our own wee thanksgiving meal.....turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and veg. I was very proud of my efforts. I even made little Canadian flag name tags for the 3 of us :-) We thought it would be a nice tradition to start for Caleb, even though he had about 2 mouthfuls of the whole meal aaahhhh toddlers!!!
Another week has flown by and we have a busy weekend ahead. Caleb has been going to nursery 2 mornings a week for just over a month now. We had a difficult few weeks when he was hysterical when we left him but that has passed and he now seems to love it! It is such a relief and so cute to see him run in to join his wee friends and shout "bye mumma!"

That was a nice touch to have a Thanksgiving meal for your DH! I see from the tableware that he's a Leafs fan. They've won their last three games!! My DH says that being a Leafs fan is just like being an Anglican. They both live in hope!

Oh Cheryl - what a lovely Thanksgiving meal! and a great tradition to start for Caleb. Now, the Leafs thing - sorry but here we are Sens (Ottawa Senators) fans in this house although our oldest son is a Leafs fan (traitor!!!)
Glad that Caleb has settled into day care and Mommy has some me time.
And big congrats on those two medals!!!

Congrats on the medals and for the effort you have put into your run(s)...looking after the wee one, working...you make me tired...but most admirable. I was intrigued as a Scot living in Canada on your Thanksgiving post. We celebrate the bringing in of the harvest (whatever we manage to grow in the veggie garden) and have a very traditional Canadian Thanksgiving (our son and our grandkids are Canadian eh!- our daughter was born not far from you on the Clydeside (think elephant & castle). We usually have "lentil" soup (an old Scottish recipe LOL) as a starter...I have introduced much fancier and delicious salads and different soups to cries of "where's the spiderman soup"(there's another story there)...so it is a tradition now and no further changes will be made! In nursery school my grandson made "lentil" soup in their play kitchen and it was brought to our attention as a very odd soup for a kid to pick hopefully he will continue on with the tradition. I loved your flags (all Canadians would and I am sharing this my Canadian friends that don’t blog – and they love the Scots – well they have me, what can I say). The corn was a great touch too. We are not cheering on the Leafs this year. They have been the underdogs for so long but if they win this year our daughter ,a radio show host, will have to get a dark spray tan with the leafs logo white on her face…that is why they have won their last three games and she is really worried now. What have you started…. in Scotland you are introducing some Canadian traditions and we here in Canada are hanging onto and carrying on our wee bit of Scotland every chance we get. Well done you!!

Well done on the medals. A lovely meal it looked to & nice to keep the special day too. Glad you persevered with Caleb... they do settle & love making friends, once the initial upset is over. :0)

You go girl!!!! Wish I was as energetic as you in running marathons. lol

So nice and sweet of you to make a Thanksgiving dinner for your hubby and son. It will be a tradition that you all love and will pass on to future generations.

So glad that Caleb is enjoying school after a rough start. It's harder on the parent then the child. lol

Happy Monday!!
